Hyatt Regency at Midtown - Sajian Rantau & Serambi Arabia Ramadan Buffet

If there’s one thing you should never challenge me on, it’s my ability to sniff out a good buffet. I have a sixth sense for it. And kengkawan… Hyatt Regency’s Midtown Brasserie just activated all of it. Loudly. With lamb. WIN!

I dropped by Midtown Brasserie recently for their inaugural Sajian Rantau & Serambi Arabia Buffet and let me tell you this is not your biasa-biasa hotel buffet where you do one round and pretend you’re full. This is a full-blown culinary marathon that requires strategy, stretchy pants, and a strong will to not skip dessert (spoiler: you won’t).

Running from 19 February to 19 March 2026, this buffet is basically a love letter between Malaysian flavours and Middle Eastern cuisine. A beautiful, delicious collision. Think sambal meets spices, rendang meets rosemary and your plate meeting its limits.

Behind the scenes - this gastronomic madness is led by Head Chef Jordan Mah, who decided to assemble the Avengers of Malay banquet cooking. Enter Chef Ayub, the maestro from Hyatt Regency Kuala Lumpur at KL Midtown, alongside Midtown Brasserie’s very own Malay culinary expert, Chef Faiz. Three’s a charm people say. Three chefs, one buffet, and over 100 dishes across seven live and curated stations. Yes, I counted. Okay, maybe I stopped counting after dessert. Hiks.

Let’s talk highlights because there were MANY.

First of all, the Global Fire Grill & BBQ station. This section alone deserves a standing ovation. The grill was done right-meats cooked to order, juicy, smoky, and dangerously addictive. I loved this idea because you actually get freshly grilled goodness instead of sad, overcooked trays. Everything I tried here? Solid. No regrets. Zero.

Then there was Mapas Fish-a dish totally new to me. And you know me, I get excited when I see something unfamiliar. One bite in, I was sold. In fact, I went back for a second round, which is my highest form of compliment. If you see me revisiting a dish at a buffet, it means business. BIG Business.

Another unexpected joy? The array of salami cuts. I mean… at a buffet like this? Fancy. I couldn’t help but wonder-do they serve this during breakfast too? Because if yes, I might just move in. Just kidding, or may be not. Hemmm…

Of course, the showstoppers were present and accounted for. The Arabic Spiced Lamb Kuzi, marinated for two full days and slow-roasted till tender, was rich, fragrant and perfect with a bit of rice (or a lot, no judgement). The Rendang Daging made with beef was next-level indulgence - soft, flavourful and cooked with serious intention. Seafood lovers, don’t worry-the Braised Seafood Selection had your back.

The live stations kept things exciting-from the Malaysian Kitchen & Live Wok, to the Carving & Shawarma Stage, the Noodle Theatre and the dangerously tempting Golden Fry section (crispy things are my weakness).

Now… dessert.
Actually, let me say it properly.

Gelato. They have gelato. Enough said.

Okay fine, I’ll elaborate. There’s a full dessert wonderland here-Turkish delights, cakes, warm and chilled sweets, and a live gelato and sorbet bar that made my inner child extremely happy. But the real nostalgic star? The live Lempeng Pisang station. Freshly griddled banana pancakes with grated coconut, banana slices and gula Melaka syrup. I almost cried. Almost.

Pricing-wise, here’s the smart move: Early Bird at RM148+ per person if you book before 15 February 2026. Regular prices range from RM178+ to RM198+, depending on the dates. Trust me, this buffet is worth planning ahead for-especially for group dinners, family gatherings, or when you just want to reward yourself for surviving adulthood.

Final verdict from this ME?

Come hungry. Come curious. Come ready to loosen your belt.
This isn’t just a buffet-it’s an experience. Probably for the Mapas Fish. And the gelato. And the grill. Okay, everything. Thank you Hyatt Regency’s Midtown Brasserie.

Citarasa Antara Benua Ramadan Buffet at The Pearl Kuala Lumpur

Alright, babes. Buckle up, loosen your fasting pants (mentally), and let me take you on a food journey that made me count down to Ramadan like it’s Raya Eve.

Hi, Lily Riani Travelholic here - a professional makan enthusiast, part-time buffet stalker, and full-time lover of good food that hits you right in the soul. Recently, I had the pleasure (and slight food coma) of previewing “Citarasa Antara Benua” at The Pearl Kuala Lumpur and let me just say… this is not your biasa-biasa Ramadan buffet.

From 21 February to 17 March 2026, The Pearl KL is serving a full-on culinary passport without you needing to renew your actual passport (thank God). The theme, Citarasa Antara Benua, literally means flavours across continents-and yes, they understood the assignment. This buffet explores tastes from Malaysia, Thailand, China, India, Korea, Japan, Spain and Italy, all under one roof. Basically, buka puasa world tour.

Let’s start with what made me audibly gasp: Lemang Kacang Hijau with Rendang Tok. Okay listen - this dish deserves a slow clap. The lemang is creamy and comforting (sedap giler) with that subtle coconut milk richness that hugs your tongue nicely. Then comes the Rendang Tok - a thick, dark, intense and packed with herbs and spices like it trained in flavour bootcamp or something. Every bite is earty, aromatic and deeply satisfying. This dish alone made me excited for Ramadan. Like… where have you been all my life excited.

Next up, crowd favourite and forever MVP: Kambing Golek. Or as we Malays lovingly call it – “that lamb everyone queues for”.
Smoky aroma? Check.
Tender meat that falls apart? Double check.
Deep, well-marinated flavour that doesn’t smell “kambing”? Triple check.
Honestly, this is the kind of lamb that converts non-lamb eaters. I saw grown adults guarding their plates like precious artifacts. Respect.

And then-cue dramatic pause-The Pearl Kuala Lumpur Chicken Briyani Rice. Guys. Sumpah sedap tak tipu. The rice is fragrant, fluffy, and perfectly spiced, not overpowered or oily. The chicken is juicy and well-seasoned and when you mix everything together with the accompanying gravies? Chef’s kiss. Clear winner for me. I went back for seconds. No shame.

But wait, there’s more (and yes, I ate everything. Almost). Over 100 special local dishes are prepared by their talented chef team. Think Ulam-Ulaman Kampung, Special Bubur Lambuk, Satay Kajang, Maggi Tomyam Gong Thai-style, Special Lemang and more classic Malay comfort food that makes you feel like balik kampung-even if your kampung is actually a condo.

The Grilled Corner deserves its own fan club. Apart from Kambing Golek, there’s roasted chicken, sausages, and grilled fish like Cencaru, Tilapia and Selar, paired with sauces such as Tamarind, Soy Chili, Mushroom or Black Pepper. Pick your fighter.

Desserts? Oh honey. Banana Coconut Pancake stall, traditional kuih-muih, cakes, puddings, nostalgic cookies, Ais Kacang and ice cream galore. I tried to “just sample”. That was a lie.

Bonus points: grab the early bird vouchers, because with every adult and senior citizen purchase, you stand a chance to win prizes via their lucky draw. Winners will be announced live on 19 March 2026 through their social media-makan and maybe menang? Yes please.

Final verdict from Lily Riani Travelholic:
This buffet isn’t just about food. It’s about experience, nostalgia and discovering flavours from around the world while breaking fast together. The Pearl Kuala Lumpur really understood the Ramadan vibe-hearty, generous, comforting and memorable.

See you at the buffet line. I’ll be the one going for round three (my briyani).
