It’s like visiting an aquarium, only smaller.
Met Soon Hock, and it’s a fish. I am more familiar with ikan patin,
jelawat, grouper, and etc, but Soon Hock? It sounded like a person’s name, a
friend of Kim Loong or something. I learnt that it is a goby species. So, what
is goby fish again? *puzzle*
It is a great opportunity to sample fresh seafood dining, experience great
service coupled with reasonably priced menu is a very important aspect every
patron is looking for. The medias were hosted by YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri
Mohamad Noor Abdul Rahim; advisor to
Unique Seafood PJ23 while YBhg Datuk Seri mirza Mohammad Taiyab, Director
General of Tourism Malaysia was the guest of honour. Food being the best medium
of communication, bridging the diverse world culture and connecting all walks
of life, seems to be the best way to promote Malaysia’s as one of the best food
tourism country.
Being invited to Unique Seafood Restaurant by Tourism Malaysia was
indeed interesting and at the same time fun. We took the opportunity to wonder
around the aquarium and learn a thing or two on sea creatures. It was both
educational and enlightening, few interesting facts I’ve learn.
California Geoduck : Pronounce as ‘goo-ey’ duck and it is not a duck; a
species of very large, edible saltwater clam. The part that we eat is the
siphon; the long neck that pokes out of the shell.
Alaskan Spider crab : Not a spider. As self-introduced, it is commonly
caught in the Bering Sea and Norton Sound, Alaska. And it is one of the largest
species.
Australian Snow Crab : It is as white as snow (to my surprise) and even
after cooked, the meat remain white unlike other crab meat, which turns red.
Red Tong Sing/Coral Trout fish : Coral trout are piscivores
(fish-eating predators).
Import : All these are imported to ensure customer have the freshest
meat possible
Cost : It is reasonably priced and is said to be amongst the lowest
priced restaurant due to the reason that Unique Seafood Group of Restaurants is also a supplier and a
wholesaler.
Chain Restaurant : Own five restaurant under the Unique Seafood
Restaurant chain, three Elite Grand Ballroom and 1 Pantai Seafood Restaurant.
Private rooms : The PJ23 outlet consist of 12 private rooms where it
can fit approximately 2-3 round tables, suitable for small event.
Ballroom : Four ballrooms! With the largest room capacity of 1,100 pax
(confortably) and 300+ pax being the smallest.
They also offer Iftar packages during this Ramadhan month, the options available
are decent and worthwhile for those who want a different selection for their
iftar. As for ala-carte, I would recommend the Deep Fried Squid with Salted Egg
Yolk, Steamed King Grouper Fish In Soy Sauce and Stir-fried Four Varieties
Beans “Hakka Style”. Chili Crab is another dish that one should try and it goes
really well with Mongolian Bun. The vegetable dish is something new and unique
as well as the salted egg squid, do sample this.
So, what are you guys waiting for, head to Unique Seafood Restarants
and try it for yourself.
