The fantastic plan I have with sis was to visit Santorini Park and Swiss Sheep Farm (links provided below) during our Bangkok visit (well, there's 2 more location but we ran out of time, sob sob...), but the thought of going all the way to Hua Hin or Cha-Am just to cover 2 places doesn't seems to be worthwhile; the time and cost.
We did a little searching and digging and obviously costing as well, the first thing we decided is to stay in Hua Hin instead of Cha-Am, will tell you why in my next few entry. This is to minimise the rush and accommodate any delay or late arrival, also to minimise cost as staying in this 2 cities will definately be cheaper then Bangkok.
After putting alot of thoughts, we decided this few things for this trip; [a] not going to the beach (don't get me wrong, the beach supposedly is the best but not for us for this particular trip), [b] not visiting the temples (moving around is difficult as we will be here for only 2D1N and it's not event FULL 2 days) and not covering the nature side of Hua Hin nor Cha-Am (for obvious reason).
So, after all the reasoning above, our 3rd outskirt sightseeing site chosen is King Rama VI Palace a.k.a Maruekatayawan Palace located in Hua Hin. The palace can easily be covered afer visiting both Santorini Park and Swiss Sheep Farm as it is on the way (provided that you are staying in Hua Hin of course).
Why we choose this palace?
Because the picture on the websites was so serene and beautiful that I figure I have to see it for myself.
First impression was... wooden olskool palace, nice clean cut lawn, beautiful beach. I felt like I want to just run wild at the palace's garden and be free (drama giler), but worried that the guard might chase me out. I forbid myself from doing so (ek elaaaa).
They have a very strict system. VERY STRICT!
You have the OPTION to purchase 2 types of ticket:
[1] Covering the whole palace (bottom)
[2] Visit the 1st floor of the palace (basically where the king eat, sleep, study etc)
Us?
We bought both tickets (kiasu maa). Cost and detail will be shared at the end of this entry.
Oh yah!! You can only visit the 1st floor at a given time (bukan main naik aje tau) and at the dedicated entrance.
During your visit here, you will be informed not to walk heavily/loudly and nor should you talk loudly in the premises. Utmost respect to the king and palace are required.
The rooms are forbidden, you can only view from outside, which is good enough.
Oh yah! No picture taking on 1st floor please! Thus you only see my picture view from the ground...

The Maruekatayawan Palace was constructed by His Majesty King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) in 1923 and was designed by an Italian architect. There is also 2 boardwalks from the palace right the beach.
I have to admit, felt like a princess. Hhehehehhe
This palace is also know as "The palace of love and hope".
Apparently, the raised of the living quarters is to prevent ants from annoying the royal residents.
