Food | #Halal Wantan Mee in PJ, #Selangorlicious

Malaysia and food.... sigh....

You know what, the truth is, I don't know what and how to write (Yet again. As usual. Lazy!). Being a Malaysian means you know good food, wait! You know GREAT food. We have Malay, Chinese, India and Nyonya food; AND best if it's the street food type, know what I mean *wink*. Then there's the Western food, Japanese, Korean, Middle Eastern etc etc etc.... the usual stuff. Easily put, you WILL NOT die of hunger in Malaysia (Bab nih memang confirm proud).

When #TourismSelangor held a #SelangorliciousEatOut event a couple of weeks back, I have no excuse not to go right? So go I did. Satisfied I am.

They have this fantastic place in Kelana Jaya (near FAM) that they wanted to introduce; Restoran Jamal Mohamed. I did wonder, what's so great aside from the Char Kuey Keow Aunty Gemuk and Nasi Lemak Kangkung Fariz blogged about. Kiasu-ly I join them (eksen curious dak?)....

Of ALL the food available here, this particular one caught my eye - Wantan Mee!!!! First question asked "#HALAL tak?". "Eh! Sini semua #halal lar..." replied Renuga. That's all I need to know. Story ends here as I feast myself right after. HAHAHHAHAHHA..... (Betul tak tipu, camera pun lupa bawak.... ni semua gambar dari iPhone). Burp! Alhamdulillah.

For those wondering what Wantan/Wanton/Wonton Mee is, below are pics of the food and its preparation. Kinda healthy as no frying nor oil being used.

Adam, mana burger apple nye?

Things To Do In Terengganu (Part 1) - The Floating Mosque, Pasar Payang & Bukit Puteri

Terengganu, one of the most diverse and colourful state in East Coast.

Ok, above was the only sentence I can think of and was stuck with it for 2 long hours or so (while watching TV obviously).  Brain jammed + Blogger's block + Train of thought choo choo-ed away.

What and how do you even begin to write on a place that is so beautiful, serene and full of cultural (ampu-ing Tourism Terengganu 2013 heh?! Hehhehee...). No word can describe her beauty, doubt my pictures can do justice either. Sigh.... So, here's what I will do instead, share the places I covered and HOPE you feel it too.

Despite that I just came back from Redang in July with a quick trip around Kuala Terengganu town, I came to realised I did not cover most of the places, like... really cover! At this point, even I feel disapointed with myself, hahahhah....(and I call myself a traveler, podahcit [Anna lar ajar ni]).

Things to do in Terengganu (errr... Kuala Terengganu je kot).

Earlier entry
Penarik Beach at Sunset, Kuala Terengganu
1. Jetty
See jetty. See boat. See colour. STOP!
Just stop at any jetty on the way to ANYWHERE.... it won't fail you, trust me! In fact, I dont even know where the above pictures was taken. We saw this river, and this bridge, and screamed 'cantik!!!!!!' (beautiful), and park our car. Tah dahhhhh...... Beautiful heh! (well to me ler kan....).

2. Shops
Pay full attention.... they can be entertaining.
Just because they are small and out of nowhere (well, probably they're somewhere [strategic], but we[lar] don't know where hehheheheh), doesn't mean they are not interesting. Check out! Ahmad Albab Bridal Shop!!!

3. Car stickers
Terengganu icon
Need I say more.

Serene. Calm. Peaceful.
Located in Kuala Ibai, it's the first real floating mosque in Malaysia - from Wikipedia. (Real floating mosque? Apa maknanye tuh... yang lain float tipu-tipu ke? Hehheheh....). What I like is the fact that this pure white mosque sets against the clear blue sky (lawa giler sangat-sangat).

5. Bukit Puteri
A fortress.
Covering 658 hectares and at about 200 meters from the sea level. It was built between 1831 and 1876 to defend country from enemy attack. It gives you a great view of Istana Maziah, Pasar Payang and it's surrounding. Do check out the last picture - it's errr.... kinda funny.

Myth
Bukit Puteri was said to have originated as a place of residence for Puteri Bunian. However, the princess left Bukit Puteri when the local residents borrowed her cutlery and did not return them to her. According to legend, this hill was opened by a chieftain from Johor named Tuk Raja Menteri who came to Terengganu to install Sultan Zainal Abidin I as the first Sultan of Terengganu. *Credit - Cuti Malaysia

Eh! Song Seng Nim yang sesat?
Skodeng?
A MUST READ!! (Translation nih betul ke?)

6. Pasar Payang
Colours. Colours. Colours
Terengganu culture at it's best.
Dry food area.

Kuih's name? Anyone?

Tiffin carrier

Lastik / Slightshot sold here too.

Kris - Malaysia dagger.

7. Turtle Alley
Enough said.

Hotel Review | Terrapuri - An architecture of a lost kingdom

For those who've read my earlier 'Penarik Beach at Sunset' entry would agree that the sunset captured was simply beautiful. You are also aware that I've written about the "secret hotel" where I stayed, this entry will reveal it all.

Terrapuri
An architecture of a lost kingdom

Terrapuri (The Land Of Palaces) is a conservation and restoration project of Terengganu Malay Classic house. Its feature 29 antique hundred years old Classic Houses. The layout of the resort is inspired by the 17th century Terengganu Palace and its surrounding. Terrapuri consists of 20 exclusive restored villas, a gallery and a beach house.

Terrapuri sits on the land flanked by the South China Sea on one side and mangrove river on the other (Setiu Wetland). By day coconut trees sway amidst sea breezes with stunning view of Pulau Perhentian, Lang Tengah, Pulau Cepu, Redang and Bidong islands, shimmer invitingly just offshore in emerald iridescence. By night, fireflies flash about while, in different seasons, ocean-going green turtles and painted terrapins lay their eggs on their respective sandy shores. The hotel synopsis intrigue us then, but what got us more excited was the moment we caught a glimpse of the hotel landscape as the gate slide open.

Flashback:
~ Earlier this year; Andrea, Bahija & I planned a trip to Pangkor Laut. While doing the ground research, I came about Terrapuri article from Gaya Travel tweeter. Curious with the name (sounded like it is during Langkasuka circa), I check on the the site and fell in love immediately, like real big time ~

Thus, I dropped an email to both my friends and persuaded them to divert our trip here, guess what? They agreed!

Let me share with you my excitement and tell me whether you guys are as impress as I am.

Earlier entry

We learnt that the houses/villas are of original Terengganu village houses; the management went around Terengganu village looking for 50% still-standing kampung (village) house. Then they dismantle the structure, carry them back to the hotel site and assemble them.

Each house has it's own story, it's own identity, it's own uniqueness, it's own arcitecture. You almost don't get 2 model of the same house, similar yet not the same.

Minor renovation on toilets, bathroom, power supply and others was done to ensure comfort for us, the house guest.

Everything was taken into consideration, every detail, right down to the bathtub, nothing was left out.

Little things like the flowers, the bronze vase, the weaved wall... all thought through thoroughly.

How could one forget Popinjay soap.

Those little things that make guest happy was thought of.

Four post bed.... Princess in the making *smile*.

Princess Song Seng Nim?

The lock? Yup! Olskool indeed.

The decors were all carved by local carpenter to retain Terengganu's authenticity.

The balcony where you can laze while having your meal (Yes, they do house-service as well). [Adam asking Song Seng Nim on how to build AdamEben empire]

I am definitely coming back.
