HL Dragon Fruit Eco Farm, Sepang

I want to go! I want to go!
Raising my hand high up when I knew that the fam trip will be to Banghuris.Simply because I want to check out the bamboo groove lah. But then I saw something interesting, dragon fruit farm. Hemmm…. The fam trip is getting even more interesting now.

I mean, I’ve seen the dragon fruit before, despite the fact that it is not up close and personal but jadi lah kan. Idok ler blur tak tau how the tree looks like. But to go to the farm with them dreadlock leaves, how cool will that be kan. BUT guess what, I was in for a big surprise for I did not only learn about the tree, I also learn about the fruit by-product. Interesting huh!??! Continue reading tau…. Don’t stop (sambil adjusting my glasses).

I have videos in my Instagram explaining about the tree, you just click and swipe yah.
Before I proceed explaining on the fruit, we first need to learn about the tree and flowers and leaf cos this tree is complicated much. Tsk tsk tsk…

Leaf (or is it a branch? Confuse jugak ni, hemmm…) that grows root, you can actually cuts the leaf/branch and plant it root downward ie. into the soil. A new tree will come to life (ta daaa…). Each leaf/branch has spines, and flowers few from these spines. You must be wondering what is the different between a thorn and a spine right, well thorns develop from shoot, whereas spines are from the leaf.

The flowers will bloom for one night and once it withers, fruit will begin to form.
Here’s a question, jeng jeng jeng… How do tell the different between a white-flesh and red-flesh Dragon Fruit? Round = Red-flesh and Oval = White-flesh. There is also yellow dragon fruit, if you are wondering what colour is the flesh, well... it's white.

You can learn all about dragon fruit at HL Dragon Fruit Eco Farm, a good place for kids (and adult) to learn about this unique fruit. It is the first dragon fruit ecotourism farm as well as the first dragon fruit themed restaurant. Here at HL Dragon Fruit Eco Farm one will get to experience planting dragon fruit tree, plucking fresh dragon fruit and hands-on farming activities. Aside from this, one also get to try dragon fruit themed food and drinks such as juices, smoothies and tea. As for food, the café is pretty creative as you can sample Jumbo Dragon Bun which is a local flavour curry chicken wrapped with dragon fruit bread, dragon fruit rice, salad, mashed potatoes with dragon fruit gravy, prawn serves with dragon fruit sauce and many more.

You need to come here to experience it all!

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur tightens its SOP during Covid-19 pandemic

Malls have a different procedure as compared to a standalone outlet as it requires tiering checks. Let me share and explain on how Pavilion practices their SOP in point form, as simple as possible.

Entrance from parking lot
Pavilion has blocked few of the entrance from parking lot to the mall. Concentrating the entrance to a handful to control the visitor registration ie scanning and temperature check.

On foot entrance
Standard check in terms of MySejahtera scan and temperature check on local and those with apps, for foreigners, they can write their details down.

Guard
Security guard are placed to ensure visitors adhere to the SOP at those entrances. And perhaps guide those that are unaware on the process.

Stores
2nd tier checking is done at respective stores whereby another temperature scanning and registration takes place (outlet discretion).

YSL
As beauty stores do not allow customers to touch nor try their products, hence YSL came out with a beauty face-apps where the customer face is captured on an iPad and she can select the beauty product (blusher, lipstick, eyeliner etc) and swipe to choose the preferred colour. The apps will then apply the chosen colour on the face-apps.

F&B Outlets
Foodcourt practices 1-2 meters ‘table distancing unless with family members/friends). If you are alone, then you’ll sit alone and your table will be 1-2 meters apart.

Public
While I was here, I noticed in generally everyone wears a mass (except those eating lah) and avoid close contact, maintaining the distance of 1meter between one and another.

Steps have been taken by the mall as well as respective outlets in ensuring public safety as Malaysia enters the Recover Movement Control Order phase. More malls/stores/F&B outlets reopens at the same time adhering MKN’s strict SOP. Malaysian very obedient huh.

As of the todate, Malaysia Covid-19 count is as below. Great Team Work Malaysia!

What are you waiting for? Come over to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We welcome you.

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park SOP during Covid-19 pandemic

For those that aren’t aware, they reputed to be the world's largest free-flight walk-in aviary. With present technology and capability, am sure there are bigger and better aviary in other parts of the world. And I believe what we should focus at is on the welfare of the birds, the knowledge these places impart us and us sharing it to everyone. For this, I have the greatest respect for the countries that put an effort to gather all these birds and care for them, for us. Much respect.

You are required to sanitise your hand, do the standard temperature check and scan the MySejahtera QR code (manual register for those with the apps). Upon completing the above said, you are then allowed to go in (practicing social distancing when walk around the bird park). Once you are inside, signages to remind visitors to wear mask are placed everywhere. Where else the F&B kiosk indicates only 1-2 persons at every table are permitted, while queuing for purchase is at 1-2 meters apart.

The KL Bird Park houses more than 3,000 birds from more than 200 species in an enclosed aviary. Approximately 90% are local birds and the remaining 10% were imported from countries such as Australia, China, Holland, Indonesia, New Guinea, Tanzania and Thailand. Divided into 4 zones, sanitisers station is located at the start of each zone and at strategic spots within respective zone.

Zone 1 & 2 are bird from different species located here. It is further split into Love Aviary, Brahminy Land, Flamingo Pond and Bulbul Land. My favourite here is the scarlet ibis. Again, social distancing signs are visible everywhere, serving as a reminder to all visitors.
At Zone 3, you’ll chance to see Rhinoceros Hornbill (largest hornbill species in the world) at the Hornbill Park inhabiting the treetops (said to be as high as 10 storey building. The hornbill feeding session at 11.30am daily.

The largest living bird is situated at Zone 4 open area. World of Parrots greets you with a ‘hello’; home to macaws, cockatoos, lories and parakeets. I’d say this is the most colourful zone amongst all. There is a photo station where visitors can pay a nominal amount for a picture with these colourful birds. As you enter, you are required to sanitise your hand and they allow only one person per entry. In other words, you are not allowed to have a family photo with them birds. This is to ensure the 1 meter apart from one and another is being practiced even during photography.

Flightless Bird area is where you’ll get to see the largest bird, the ostrich, emu and the cassowary from New Guinea and North-east Australia. Oh! By the way, incase you don’t know, cassowary is capable of killing us humans using its sharp nails on its inner toes. However, cassowary on the verge of extinction due to habitat destruction and human activities.

Visitors can exit via the gift shop and stop for a quick drink/snack at the ornbill Restaurant & Café before heading to the next attraction.
