Staying in a YURT in Teluk Intan! Coolness!

There’s a few hotel in Teluk Intan if you ever plan to visit. You might also wonder, why should I even visit Teluk Intan right?!? The only attraction many people know in the Menara Condong Teluk Intan, BUT no no no…. There’s plenty of attractions that you can visit, one that I highly recommend is the Sunset River Cruise and it will be perfect if you catch a glimpse of the stork flying back to the island.

1. Pulau Bangau in Teluk Intan, Perak – When the Storks Fly Home
URL : https://lilyrianitravelholic.blogspot.com/2020/12/pulau-bangau-in-teluk-intan-perak-when.html

2. 9 Things To Do in Teluk Intan Heritage Trail
URL : https://lilyrianitravelholic.blogspot.com/2021/01/9-things-to-do-in-teluk-intan-heritage.html

And for you to do these activities, you need to stay at least 1 night here, in Teluk Intan.

As many that know me, I don’t fancy staying in normal boxy hotel especially if there’s another option of staying in a boutique/one of a kind hotel. And guess what, Rick Resort Teluk Intan fit my interest. Located in Taman Tow Yuan, Rick Resort consist of normal room and yurt (for those looking for an adventure) totaling to 27 smoke-free guestrooms. Some rooms came with attach bathroom and some are without, as for the yurt (some can fit 3pax and some, 5pax)… no window lah.

It comes with basic amenities such as indoor pool + children’s pool, air conditioning, snack bar/deli, television, toiletries, hair dryer, ironing facilities, and meeting facilities. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, the parking is FREE and so is the wifi.

OK! For those that are looking for an instagrammable places around Teluk Intan, this is the best place (make sure you bring the right attire to match the ‘scene’).

What are you guys waiting for, plan a short weekend trip with family/friends here.

Staycation at Desa Tunas Hijau (Desaland), Labuan

So much has changed since I last came here, and the changes they did were amazing.

This is what I personally feel, the owner’s vision and mission supersedes everything. Dato’ Sri Mohd Alias Bin Abdul Rahman, the founder of Desa Tunas Hijau in Labuan took advantage of the pandemic to upgraded, revamped and improved this great place thus making it one of the most sought after place for outdoor and family recreation place.

Previously was equipped with activities such as ATV, kayak, a banquet hall and many more but now, the stage is beautifully decorated that it suits a wedding event (a rugged/outdoorish wedding theme would be perfect here). The pond not only caters for kayaking, but it also has paddle boats, water roller balloon and many more. What caught me by surprise is that Desa Tunas Hijau or Desaland has accommodation for guest to overnight, this was the highlight for me. You can use the accommodation for wedding prep or family to stay, ourdoor activities R&R place, staycation, picnic and many more. How great is this!!!!

Let me share some of the places they have here, I bet you gonna get as excited.

2. If its during low tide, beg them to let you ride by the beach. It is MORE fun.

Kuak Hill Resort | A Place You’ll Never Regret Visiting

I have mix feeling when I heard about this place, namely because it’s on a hill. Well, that’s about it. Hahhahah…. Lame excuse, yah yah… I know. Me being me, am worried nonetheless, for everything under the sun. Thou shall not worry fellow friends (gitew, cam medieval period pulak rasanya), all is well, all is safe. I am being overly concern (as usual). Ahaks.

I must say, riding the ATV downhill and uphill at that height was exhilarating! But oh boy! It was the best experience of this place, aside from having the bragging rights lah (our chalet was the biggest and bestest of all). Let me do this. I’ll share on things to do here, the chalets and some #traveltips, howabout that!

Things To Do In Kuak Hill Resort
3D2N trip here sounds about okay cos 2D1N will be way to short. And mind you, once you are here, to venture out is abit of a hassle so they make sure you are pretty much occupied here. And oh yah… Internet is not at its best, maka paham-pahamlah yea.

  • ATV – A must must must. I have to admit that the slope was scary for me to ride downhill (get someone to do it if you are penakut, having said that I managed to ride down on my own at a slow speed). As for uphill, I ramp up selaju-lajunya ler. Hahhahaha….
  • Swimming – They have a swimming pool (natural water source/air gunung) overlooking Tasik Raban, the view is simply majestic
  • Trampoline – I saw but did not manage to try, with my current weight nanti orang ingat gempak bumi pulak.
  • Trekking – Yes, they have this but you will need to inform them upfront as permit need to be obtained.
  • Karaoke – Night activity… It’s public area by the way, I habaq awai-awai na…
  • Petting zoo – Peacock, cats

And here are my #TraveTips!
  • Make sure your stay is a 3D2N for you to fully embrace the smell of the nature
  • Unless you plan to go here and write a book, make sure you come with friends/family (takut mati kutu pulak nanti)
  • Shops/resto are miles away, bring snacks/Maggie and all
  • Bring your own food for BBQ (for glampers) and rent the pit, or alternatively take their BBQ package
  • Ask for their full board cost (ie. all meal included, no shop nearby remember)
  • Bring sunblock
  • Bring swimsuit
  • Bring own toiletries
  • Slippers/flip-flop jangan pulak lupa
  • It gets pretty cold night, bring proper pyjamas (Long John tuh takyah ler)
  • Sneakers of you plan to trek/ride the ATV (additional charges for ATV)
  • You can do morning yoga… nice view and air

#TravelTips | Accommodation at Taman Hutan Lagenda, Gunung Ledang

Takde idea nak tuliiiiiiiiissss…

This is basically what will happen once you lose the momentum, hence I usually prefer to write everything within one week so that my mood, flow and lenggok Bahasa/jalan cerita will be more or less the same. BUT NOOOOOOOO… I took few weeks to continue with my last blog entry on my Endau-Rompin trip, see what happened?!!? Jenuh dok bertapa nak dapat balik mood lah pulak.

Earlier on I wrote about where to stay in Endau Rompin (Selai) National Park, you can read it HERE. I figure I should do the same for Gunung Ledang as it too has its own proper accommodation at Taman Hutan Lagenda. Jom, let’s take a look shall we.

I have to use photos from public/google reason being we arrived late at night and I was among the last few to go into the dorm (yup! We stayed in a dorm)… hence the place was pretty much a mess and most of us dah bukak tedung bagai, so sis tak ler ambek gambo.

Dormitory
I saw 2 dorm buildings (but when I googled, it stated 3 lah pulak, Nampak sangat I tak jalan kat belakang-belakang tuh). The 3 dorm buildings can fit 120 pax which means you can actually do a family day here. Each dorm consist of :

  • Double decker beds
  • Pillow and blankets provided
  • Metal lockers
  • Ceiling fans
  • Common bath area and toilets (female bath area and toilet are different from male, fret not)
  • There’s an open area beneath the dormitory can be used for activities (and its free)
  • Common surau, cooking and dining area located nearby

Standard Chalet
As I walk around the next day, I noticed that have a few chalets near the river, not bad jugak lah. Suitable for a family of 4 (or friends) and 8 chalets in total (located next to the park office). Each chalet consist of :
  • 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom (2 pax per room)
  • Master bedroom comes with airc-con
  • 2nd room comes with fan
  • Electric water heater in the bathroom
  • Living room
  • Kitchenette (however, no fridge and television tau. Kalau nak lebih-lebih gi JB)

Deluxe Chalet
They also have deluxe chalet catering for larger pax. But I did not go for a peep. Having said that, the basic amenities are the same as standard just that it is bigger in size.

Campsite
Total of three campsites at Taman Hutan Lagenda, namely :
  • Lagenda campsite (accommodates 90 pax)
  • Obstacle (OBS) campsite (accommodates 50 pax)
  • Kolam Mahligai campsite (accommodates 40 pax)
  • Common bathrooms and toilet
  • Shared surau, cooking and dining areas (all located near each campsite)

Jungle Hut
I don’t even know where the jungle hut is, this place is huge obviously. Better to stay for 3d2n. Hahhaha…. This area is also pretty rugged and suitable for outdoorish folks.
  • Accommodate only 3 pax
  • Sleeping platform with 2 large PVC mattresses, 3 pillows and a wall fan
  • As usual, common toilets, bathrooms, surau, cooking and dining area
  • HOWEVER, no blankets nor towels provided

If you ask me, I will take the chalet but if budget is tight, dorm is good enough especially in large crowd – lagi seronok ramai-ramai satu bilik kan. Lepas MC Oni kita serang Johor JOM!!!

As mentioned in my earlier blog entry (click HERE to read), I will be sharing on where to stay if you plan to visit Endau-Rompin (Selai) Johor National Park. No no…. don’t worry, this entry will be short as I can’t elaborate much on a place to stay (hence I recorded a video and posted on my Instagram).

We were lucky that they have allocated us the Family Chalet for us to spend a night here, the chalet was big and comfortable, most importantly it is very very clean and INSTAGRAMMABLE.

Chalet's balcony

They also have meeting room (this is the same place where they conduct most of their briefing) hence it is possible for you to do company team building at this place. All you need to do is to inform them on how many pax and cater the daily meal with them. Worry not, their caterer’s food is super yummeh (tak pernah tak habis hokkay). Shoud have taken photo of the food huh, sure takde orang percaya I said makanan sedap *facepalm*.

Basically you guys will be super comfy if you were to stay here lah, despite that you are in a tropical rainforest national park. Apa tunggu lagi, jemputlah datang.

Empowerment | The Inle Heritage and Ms. Yin Myo Su

‘You can ask Miss Sue at Inle Heritage’ said Mr. Kyaw Swar of A Little Eco Lodge.
A one liner like this will tend to create the curiosity in me. Again.
Wondering who is this Miss Sue and what is thing called The Heritage (obviously I did not by-hearted the itinerary given by the organiser).
Everyone seems to have the highest regard of Miss Sue.
I guess I just need to meet this Miss Sue.
Yin Myo Su

A little girl whom was born and raised at Inle Lake, Myanmar is forever passionate on woman empowerment, economic development, heritage and environmental preservation, art, culture of the locals. With this rooted strongly since her childhood plus supports from family members, Miss Sue is now the Managing Director of the Inle Princess Group, and founder of the Inle Heritage Foundation.

This was not achieved easily, it was through perseverance and hard work, as well as her 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry lead to the birth of The Heritage House and Inle Heritage Foundation; advocating on the sustainable and responsible development practices around the Inle Lake, educating the local communities on the cultural heritage of Inle Lake and Shan State, aside from providing skillsets to the younger generation in the area she has mastered well – hospitality. Ensuring that with proper guidance, there’s hope in everyone.

So what does Inle Heritage actually do?
  • Inle Heritage Hospitality Vocational Training Centre (IHHVTC)
  • Grandma’s Inthar Cooking (restaurant)
  • Learning Inle Cuisine (cooking class)
  • Original Local Crafts (gift shop)
  • Reintroducing Burmese Cats
  • Inle's Aquatic Life
  • Waste Management
  • Waste Water Treatment
  • Organic Farming
  • Inle Heritage Stilt Houses (hotel)

Inle Heritage Hospitality Vocational Training Centre (IHHVTC)

As if this is not enough (even it is a plateful for me), she set to reintroducing (or perhaps repopulate) the Burmese Cat back to Myanmar. How serious is Miss Sue in her kitty mission? Well, there’s a small ONLY cat island at the The Inle Heritage House. Yup! Kid you not. They have proper meal time, air conditioned room (Oh yah! Its AC hokkay), human playmate, an island of their own, and not to forget, their own cat house. I bet some of you wish to be reincarnate as a Burmese cat in Inle after this heh?!?!?!

Organic Farming

Learning Inle Cuisine (cooking class)

Inle Heritage Stilt Houses (hotel)

We were thought on the Burmese cat breed (I did try to kidnap one of the cat but my so called great attempt failed by the staff – laughingly. Sumpah cute hokkay, geram giler! The cat I mean, not the staff). The story goes that they were temple and palace cats bred and kept by priests. And the coat colour is in amazing shade as well – sable, champagne, blue, lilac, Fawn, cream, chocolate and etc. And I set to hunt the one in lilac and blue on the island. Managed to find one – a blue Burmese cat.

Reintroducing Burmese Cats

As if Building an establishment as great as The Heritage House, reintroducing Burmese cat is not enough, Miss Sue has also embarked in educating the public on the fishery on Inle Lake itself such as endemic, native and non-native or uncertain status of fishes. It is said that over 9 species of fish are found nowhere else in the world but Inle Lake. Aside from fishes, turtle is one of the animal they are caring for.

Inle's Aquatic Life

The Heritage House serves many purposes and can be considered as a self-contained establishment in the area, travelers can also stay in their ‘floating hotels’ and enjoy drive in preserving Inle Lake’s heritage art and culture.
