Things To Do In Terengganu (Part 2) - Terengganu Museum, Crystal Mosque, Traditional Boat Building

Gosh! My November is acting up just like our Malaysia weather thus I am still in my lazy mood. Dian calls it weather PMS. Kejap hujan, kejap berhenti. Hahhahahah.... (only mine is kinda permanent laziness).

So you can kinda guess that this will be a short and simple entry (me creative juice went on a holiday earlier than I expected. Sigh...)

Earlier entries
Things To Do In Terengganu (Part 1) - The Floating Mosque, Pasar Payang & Bukit Puteri

1. Terengganu Museum
HUGE and beautiful architecure.
Did I just say huge? You know what, I'll shall re-emphasize - HUGE. There you go...!
And the architecture.... put the one in KL to shame lar... I mean it's huge! (OK, I think I overdone it here. I shall stop using the 'you-know-what-word').

From Tourism Terengganu Website :
Acclaimed as the largest of its kind in Malaysia, the Terengganu State Museum houses century old artifacts and artworks of rich and colourful heritage. Located on 27 hectares of land in Bukit Losong, Kuala Terengganu, the complex itself is an impressive architectural feature, based on the ancient Terengganu palace designs and architectures. The complex’s many galleries showcase textiles, historical artifacts, crafts, royal regalia, Islamic arts, contemporary arts, weapons, petroleum development, historical, sea faring trade, fisheries and marine galleries.

2.  Museum Vicinity
See bridge. Walk!
Jom! Jom! Jom! I want to walk over on the bridge. Wanted to see what is on the other side, mysterious heh!

Agak scary yet olskool ler jugak... macam masuk Kampung Pura Cendana ehhehehheh....

3. Crystal Mosque at  Islamic Civilization Park
Terengganu landmark
I might be bias but I still prefer The Floating Mosque or Tengku Tengah Zaharah

We got lost while trying to find Pulau Duyong and ended up on the other side of the Crystal Mosque. Well, sometimes getting lost might be benefitting after all (for we got the view we wanted). Hahahahhahah...

4. Traditional Boat Building in Pulau Duyong
New advennture. New experience.
From VacationTourz website :
Terengganu is the centre of boat building for the East Coast, principally in the mouth of the main river and to a lesser extent at other points along the seaboard. At the present time one of the more popular places for traditional boat building methods is at Pulau Duyong, Kuala Terengganu. There, traditional boat-builders continue to produce seaworthy vessels relying entirely on traditional skills and long experience. The same method of construction is in widespread use throughout the region, and can be traced right back to the time when records began. Their methods are particularly well adapted to local requirements and prevailing conditions, using just the tools that are locally available.

Satu daerah, Satu Awek would be Adam's version. Hehhehehheh....

I was told Muzium Terengganu is in fact one of the largest museums in SE Asia. I love the architecture of the buildings they have there. A lot of visitors to Terengganu skip Kuala Terengganu to just go straight to one of the islands, which I find very unfortunate. Terengganu Tourism really need to step up and do more to promote the state, both domestically and internationally.

Did you go to Islamic Civilisation Park, by the way?

raw,

honestly, cant find anything not to like :)

as for the museum, i think more activity and content would be great, currently it is abit dry.

yeah! terengganu is known for her islands, and i feel tourism terengganu should sieze this opportunity and cross-leverage it.

i went to islamic civilisation park but wasnt wow-ed. i guess i'll stick to the kampung houses and old buildings.
